NEW: The Trump administration agreed to delay the deportation of up to a dozen women who alleged medical abuse at an ICE facility in Georgia, according to a court filing.

The women who suffered horrific human rights abuses at ICE medical facilities must have the opportunity to stay in the United States and take part in this urgent investigation.

I will continue doing everything in my power to bring all those responsible to justice.

The holidays look different this year because of COVID-19, but what matters is caring for each other, family & ourselves. Take a look at a week in the life of 4 caregivers. Then thank them by investing in their work.

Caregivers have been through a lot this year, and shouldn’t have to juggle it all alone. This Thanksgiving, let’s show our gratitude for all types of caregivers by supporting investment in the care infrastructure. #CareForAll

NEW: Biden will nominate Alejandro Mayorkas as the first Latino to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

This is long overdue. And when I think about what the last few years have meant for immigrants, it is just a huge relief to be able to welcome a leader like @AliMayorkas to lead DHS.

The Senate has spent the majority of the last year either confirming right wing judges or on vacation. Meanwhile, women of color have been doing essential work, in a pandemic, and are still struggling to pay rent. We can’t keep waiting for relief.

COVID cases are rising & cold weather has us indoors again. #EssentialWorkers like domestic workers are still working.

They need hazard pay, free testing, paid sick days, PPE, and child care.

It's time to pass the Essential Worker Bill of Rights (h/t @senwarren & @reprokhanna)

A new report from @IPS, @forrespect & @bcgproject calls attention to the difference between company profits and workers reality. #EssentialWorkers went underpaid, unsupported, and forced to risk their health while ten owners increased their wealth by 42%.

Nearly 250,000 people have died.
#EssentialWorkers keep us alive and cared for while risking their lives & their families safety due to a lack of hazard pay, paid sick leave & PPE.

And yet American billionaires increased their wealth by $1 trillion.

“When we knocked on doors in Latino neighborhoods, people told us over and over that they’d never been contacted before,” writes @marisa_franco. “It was a lot of ground to cover, and we were largely doing it on our own.”

My friend @marisa_franco has been doing the work with Latinx voters. Important insight here.

DC’s Domestic Workers Protection Act gives concrete workplace protections and creates solutions to challenges domestic workers face. The District’s domestic workers are counting on @councilofDC to pass the bill.

1 in 15 Chicagoans now have infectious COVID-19. Let that sink in, folks.

And #EssentialWorkers still don’t have hazard pay, health care, or adequate protections.
